Let’s Go Fly a Kite

It’s been a beautiful spring here so far and what better thing to do than fly kites! Cade was thrilled to find a Peregrine Falcon kite and Reagan a Bald Eagle. Levi was happy with a standard shaped Transformers kite. Unfortunately we tried three different days with the kites and only Levi’s cheap kite worked well. The birds worked occasionally and were beautiful when they did, but mostly they just nose dived. Reagan was pretty disappointed. Cade on the other hand, was his typical happy go-lucky self and loved the fact that it dove to the ground all the time. “It’s just like the real thing!” he said. His kite was not flying 240 miles an hour like the real thing, but he was still able to see the silver lining. We did get a few good shots of our attempts though.

Here’s Levi just standing and doing nothing while his kite flew. His brothers, who ran like crazy just to get theirs up in the air, were very jealous.

He had a good time until he got all tangled up.

Lesson learned:
Stick with the cheap diamond shape kite. It might be boring, but it works the best.

  1. One time in college, (yes that was college not band camp) we bought a cheap kite but there was no wind. We were disappointed so we convinced my roommate to take us in her car and let us fly it out of her sun roof. It flew perfectly but we had to watch out for power lines.
